The Austin Valkyries had their first league match of 2008 against the Kansas City Jazz in Austin, TX. The match was played April 12, 2008 at 5:00pm at Burr Field and the Valkyries won in front of a HUGE crowd! Thank you for everyone that came to cheer us to victory! June 23 - While referees are in high demand for rugby, women referees are in even higher demandl, and the Austin Valkyries are proud to have three practicing referees: Meg Pace, Wendy Young and Rachel "Rocky" Osborn and congratulations to the newest Valkyrie referees, they were certified at the 2008 Bloodfest Referee Clinic: Traci Schmidtke, Amy Wolfrey, and Anna Kunkel.
May 12 - The Valkyries had a great weekend in Atlanta with two victories to close out the Fall season. Austin A defeated Atlanta A 32 - 24, while Austin B defeated Atlanta B 24 - 0 as well. Check out the writeup here.
May 5 - The last game of the season will be against Atlanta in Atlanta, GA. Game times are Noon and 2:30pm, field location TBD.
Apr 28 -Congratulations to Traci Schmidtke and Wendy Young for being selected to the 2008 West Senior All Star team. Their first match is agianst the Midwest on May 10, and then they will travel to Pittsburgh for the National All Star Championships.
Apr 27 - The TRU Senior All Star team faired very well at the West LAU Tournament April 26, 2008. The TRU defeated Missouri by 2 tries and then tied ERRFU 0-0 in the final. Match writeup can he found here.
Apr 25 - Thanks to everyone that came out to our Oil Wrestling event, the fund raiser was a success! Look for more fundraisers over the summer!
Apr 20 -Congratulations to Amy, Mona, Krafty, Pony, Pattie, Bags, Shalay, Traci and Wendy for making the Texas Rugby Union (TRU) Senior All Star Team! Next week they will be traveling to Ft. Worth (Gateway Park) to play against the other rugby unions in the West.
